After 10 years of publishing mysteries and thrillers it was an obvious choice for us to include Crime Drama as an overall generic identifier for this line of books.

It made sense to build our corporate identity around our name. We decided that every book we published would need to truly represent “intrigue.” Each new publication would arouse curiosity or interest by unusual, new, fascinating or compelling qualities… it would succeed by appealing to the reader’s curiosity and interest. It would draw and capture the reader’s mind.

With that as background, we wanted to establish a broad list, but not too broad. We needed to choose what kind of books we knew well enough to spot a winner, and whose market we could reach. Crime fiction almost always fits the bill, and we feel we have pretty deep expertise in mystery and thriller novels, so we knew we would start there.

In The Ice Woman Assignment, Morgan Stark and Felicity O'Brian battle drug smugglers.  A new drug known simply as Ice is being imported by a Colombian group known as the Escorpionistas. Morgan, a retired mercenary soldier, and Felicity, a retired jewel thief, operate a security business, and federal agencies hope their street connections can help them trace the source of the new drug before it becomes too popular to stop.

Morgan and Felicity have a special gift, a psychic link that alerts them to danger.  But the leader of the Escorpionistas, a woman known as Anaconda, has a secret weapon too: clairvoyant brothers who warn her of the threat Morgan and Felicity will pose.  Even before they begin the case, Morgan and Felicity are attacked, and in their first contact with the Escorpionistas, Felicity is injured in a way that shakes her confidence.

Frederico, one of Anaconda’s psychics, escapes her control and asks Felicity to protect him.  This begins an extensive chase, as our heroes dodge killers from California to Texas while following the clues that lead to discovering how the Ice is getting into the USA.  But that victory is short lived, as Frederico is recaptured by the Escorpionistas

That’s when Morgan and Felicity take the battle to Colombia.  Their attack on the cartel’s headquarters leads first to their capture, then to an explosive finish as they face death suspended beneath Anaconda’s helicopter.

The Ice Woman Assignment is the fourth in a series of adventures featuring Morgan and Felicity.

D.B. Corey - Author of Chain of Evidence, released August 2013.

They say the evidence never lies. But what if it did? What if it directed police away from the real murderer? In Chain of Evidence, it does just that, leaving a killer of women to roam the streets of Baltimore.

The evidence is consistent—cyanide: identical in concentration, identical in purity. The victims appear random to all except Detective-Sergeant Moby Truax. Truax sees that recent victims are suddenly younger, prettier, and questions the evidence that points to a lone killer. He suspects a copycat, but he must convince his new commander, young Captain Atkins, by overcoming the only flaw in his theory—the evidence itself.

Special Agent Frances Vecchio of the FBI is brought in to assist, but Truax considers her little more than an attractive distraction, when she discloses that she is a newly minted agent. Vecchio doesn’t subscribe to Truax’s theory of a copycat and makes no bones about it.

Will Truax find the break in the evidence chain to prevent another death? Can he convince his new commander that there are two killers, one emulating the other? And if not, will he follow his orders to focus on a single suspect? Or defy his young boss, and risk losing his job, and perhaps his pension.
